We are a research group in the Department of Microbiology at the Ohio State University.
We study the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum. This unicellular organism exhibits striking metabolic and genomic plasticity, enabling it to rapidly develop drug resistance that undermines efforts to control the disease in endemic regions.
Using molecular genetic methods, weinvestigate metabolic pathways essential for parasitic infection, with the goal of exposing vulnerabilities that could lead to new therapeutic strategies.
