Our group attended the MNID (Midwest Neglected Infectious Diseases) Meeting at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. James gave a fantastic turbo-talk, and Angel, Apurva, and Marion presented their posters to a number of attendees.

Our research group has doubled in size! We are happy to welcome James Blauwkamp and Apurva Oke.
James, our postdoctoral scholar, recently defended his excellent thesis on Plasmodium cell biology from Dr. Sabrina Absalon's group at Indiana University and will be bringing state-of-the-art microscopy techniques to our lab.
Apurva, the lab's new research associate, is a talented molecular biologist with a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and joins us after working at a biotech company in New York City.
Malaria parasites are happily growing in our BSL2 facility. We are excited to train our new folks on parasite culturing techniques.
Inti Cerrato, a junior in the Microbiology undergraduate program, joins the group as a Student Research Assistant. Welcome to the team, Inti!

Angel Eisenhuth and Marion Parshall from the Microbiology graduate program officially join the lab for their PhD thesis! A warm welcome to the group's first members!
Angel will be studying redox biology in the malaria parasite apicoplast, and Marion will be characterizing iron-sulfur cluster biogenesis in the mitochondrion.
